The day after writing my last post, I got a chance to get back in studio for a personal project and have some time to play around with some ideas. I got together with model Yulia Naumenko at the Karman Studio in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, and my goal was to come up with some intuitive ideas inspired by the outfits she brought and the space itself. I usually get very specific ideas for shoots before-hand, but for this coming back to photography moment, I wanted to have no pressure or expectations. I was inspired by my conversation with photographer Dan Hecho, who goes to shoots with no previous ideas on what he will create, and let the moment manifest what images to be made, inspired by the light, the mood, the model, the space.
It was a small but very nice studio. We experimented with strobes but I was inspired by the simple window light, to create a light mood, a feel of a calm new start, a morning feel of waking up with no worries. I let the model move as she wanted, and started shooting, trying to feel the emotions I wanted to convey in the picture.
I also took just a few photos, way less than I usually shoot. I basically clicked until I got the shot I wanted, and stopped when I got it. As I mentioned, this was a completely different way of creating images for me, and I was happy with the results. More than everything, it was nice to be in studio again, feel time disappear and allow myself to play. You can see my final image bellow. I hope you enjoy this photograph and I am looking forward to the next shoot :)
