Metamorphosis

I want to share with you today a little story about beginning a transformation, and I hope it will be useful on your own path and struggles.

As astronomer Carl Sagan once said, “when you are in love, you want to tell the world”. For the past 5 years I’ve been creating a lot of work in photography and music, but I must admit I’ve been too shy (and honestly afraid) to showcase it properly and put my ideas out there. It was fear of rejection, of not being ready, of thinking I should have been further along in my career. But three voices were in my head over the last month: Gary Vaynerchuk saying “your lack of action is exposing your insecurities”, Neil Gaiman saying “dragons can be beaten”, and Chase Jarvis saying “I think you should go for it”. For whatever reason, these ideas started a little quiet revolution on the way I was working.

So, next week I’m releasing 3 new projects around my love for photography, fashion, mythology, music and world cultures.

The first is called The Story of an Image, and it is basically my vlog talking about the process of creating images, the inspiration behind them and a documentation of my life getting into the art world.

The second is a video series called The DNA of Music, featuring interviews and solo performances of musicians from a variety of cultures from around the world.

The last one is the scariest one, which has been on my mind for almost two years: the launch of my crowdfunding/subscription project called The Postcard Club, where people who like my work can support it and get a bunch of goodies, including a monthly signed postcard with one of my images.

I was debating if I should start so many things at once, but I remembered that most of my regrets where not starting things. I also remembered something my wife, dancer Iana Komarnytska, told me ages ago: ‘next time don’t wait’ .

If you are interested, I’m releasing a podcast tomorrow talking about these projects in a solo episode which serves as sort of my ‘origin story’. It’s time to tell the world what I’m in love with.

I hope you found this valuable and I can’t wait to finally start sharing this journey with you.
