I’ve been thinking of what kinds of shoots to do at home during the quarantine and I came across this shot with Iana Komarnytska and hair by Olena A., mixing elements of ethnic fashion and high end jewelry. I’ve been very interested in jewelry history and design, especially from really ancient times. They found some beautiful bracelets in a cave in Siberia that were made 50 thousand years ago by the Denisovans, a human species long extinct. I mention this in light of our current crisis. Those pre-historic folks had a very hard and difficult life, and yet they felt compelled to create beautiful things. I don’t know what it is, but there is something useful in creating beauty in dark times. Maybe it is creating sparks of hope, a vision for a world we want to rebuild. More coming soon.
