A celebration
A lazy afternoon with dance and music. That time we hope for the Sun to keep shining on her hair, just so, for one more moment. Where every tak of the drum is ancient and reveals a new move, unpredictable, but strangely familiar. Like a dream we almost remember. The book is put down. She must see the joy unraveling. There is beauty in moving at the pace of the soul. When you dance not to tell your story, but to remind yourself of who you are. And, for a brief moment, the Sun does stay still, fleeing eternity in the fabric over hips.
The first photo I wanted to show in The Orientalist is called Celebration. It was photographed in Kiev, Ukraine, and it features dancers and a drummer from Isadora Dance Studio, one of the most prestigious in the country. It was created at the gorgeous Бакинский Бульвар restaurant, which served as stage for two upcoming photographs in the series.
